The East Coast earlier this week |
This was going to be a short week to begin with, having only
89 games scheduled. Then, the first part of the week features a massive rain
storm that cancelled seemingly all of the games. As such, things were probably
going to be a little off.

Nothing worse than getting dominated by a guy who looks like he's 12 |
The sackers were dominant this week all across the board, as
this game was never close at any point. The week ended with a healthy margin of
victory in most categories. The Empire made a late charge to try and steal QS’s
at the end, but Lance Lynn managed to put it back to a tie with a 6 inning 2 ER
effort in the last game of the week.

Still the best moment in league history |
DVD was dominant in all phases of the game this week. They
accomplished the rare feat of having a large number of innings pitched, 62 IP,
with a solid 2.47 ERA. Paired up with a massive power performance at the dish,
and the Vizquels didn’t really have a chance in this one.

As is his fashion, Yasiel Puig celebrated his dominant week by trying to hurt himself. |
The score belies how close this game really was, and thus
makes it the only real candidate for game of the week. It was a close duel on
offense paired with a battle of finesse vs. brute force in the pitching stats.
The coin flipped in the Wahoos favor in the end, with a victory of one more HR
and one more steal. This one will be good to see in a rematch down the line.

Jay Bruce, attempting a Chris Angel impression. |
The RR gets their first win by knocking off the defending
champs. Carried by strong pitching (and poor pitching for DLA,) this one was
pretty clear. DLA could have taken Innings Pitched, had not CC Sabathia been
knocked out after 3.1 innings on Sunday. The Rooters definitely have the most
speed in the league, with 15 SB over the course of the week. On the plus side, DLA traded for Jay Bruce who celebrated by K'ing 4 times on his first day on the team, and then hurting himself.
MVP: Jordan Zimmerman 0.00 ERA, 1.26 WHIP 9.95 K/9
LVP: CC Sabathia 19 H 9 R 9.35 ERA

Domination |
An offensive outage for the Danger Zone prevented them from
capitalizing on an uncharacteristically poor pitching performance by BO. Hurt
by a power drop off from injury of Ryan Braun and other players. A decent but
not great offensive effort by the Most Interesting Team in the World managed to
save the win.

ReplyDeleteNO love for 80+ ip and a 1.0 whip? But we slobber all over DVD ERA at 60 ip. Also the review on our game would make it sound like my team has been one of the worst staff in the league despite being number 1 in ip, qs, and a quality 3.4 era and 2nd in whip. If I hadn't gotten cocky and started Colon when I knew it was bad idea I think I would have been under 3 too.
ReplyDeleteBias cat is meowing big time.
And seriously screw that rain storm.
I don't see the part where I said you had a bad pitching week. You lost your game, DVD won their game largely due to their pitching.
DeleteIf you want to write the review one week, knock yourself out.
Apologies good sir. I went into that week fully expecting to beat Joe in every pitching category besides saves and that k/9 would be a horse race. I was trying to be sarcastic and at least respond so you know people read it. I thought the bias cat joke would betray the face I had no ill intent, but it apparently missed.
ReplyDeleteAnd honestly who doesn't appreciate a good bias cat.
Keep up the good work, and from now on no more sarcastic WWE style response commentary from me. I'll drop more things like kudos, or agreed so you get some comments to show people are reading but not illicit negative feelings.
I was cranky. It's been a...I'll choose the word "busy" though it doesn't quite have enough negative connotation to it...week.
